Suzanne "Suzie" Jill Evans passed away at home on Saturday, May 17, 2025, with her family around her. Suzie was born and raised in St. Joseph, Missouri to Norman and Ruby Koch, in 1948. She was the second of five siblings. Suzie lived a full life, with cherished friends and family across the country. She was a life-long Girl Scout, served as a Girl Scout Leader for many years, and sold an insane amount of Girl Scout cookies. She found comfort in her faith and served congregations in Basalt, CO and Great Bend, KS as a church pianist/organist. Suzie was an avid KC Chiefs and Royals fan, but loved college basketball even more, yelling at the TV if the Jayhawks lost. Suzie worked in newspaper and radio advertising sales while living in Glenwood Springs, CO. She was active in the Rotary Club, and helped to raise funds for many worthwhile causes. She relocated to Great Bend, KS and then started a retirement career at Wal-Mart. No one was more surprised than she was that she had a blast working there. Suzie leaves behind her children Steven McCrosky (Stephanie), Dianne Newman (Jeff), and Andrew Evans. Suzie had seven grandchildren; Brittany, Kayla (Greg), Mitchell, Morgan, Hannah, Skylar, and Matthew. Suzie also had two great-granddaughters Laurel and Charlotte.
Suzie was preceded in death by her parents, her second husband Mark, her brother Steve, and her granddaughter Zoey.
The family will receive visitors at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in York, PA on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 10:30 with a service following at 11:00. The services will be officiated by Father Grant Ambrose.
In lieu of flowers, Suzie strongly supported her local PBS stations, and hopes you will too. Great Bend's station is Smoky Hills PBS at P.O. Box 9, Bunker Hill, KS 67626
