Suzanne LeStage Obituary

NORTH ATTLEBORO – Suzanne Garner LeStage, 94, of Hunting Street, died at home on Saturday, May 17, 2008. She was the wife of the late Donald LeStage, Jr. who passed away in 1979.

Born December 31, 1913 in North Attleboro, she was a daughter of the late Stephen H. and Agnes M. (Codding) Garner.

Suzanne grew up in Attleboro and moved back to North Attleboro when she married in 1937. She was a graduate of the former House in the Pines boarding school in Norton and attended St. Lawrence University in New York and The Katherine Gibbs School.

Suzanne was active in and supported a number of organizations including the Kalmia Club, the Massachusetts Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, The North Attleboro Historical Society, and The Universalist Church in North Attleboro. She was a trustee of the Doolittle Home in Foxboro for many years and was a member of the Squantum Association in Riverside, RI.

She is survived by her three sons, Donald LeStage III of Attleboro, Garner LeStage of Cumberland, and Richard LeStage of Wrentham, her sister, Dorothy Garner Croll of Orleans, six grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.

She was sister of the late Stephen H. Garner, Jr.

Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Burial will take place privately in Mt. Hope Cemetery & Arboretum. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 9th, at 11 a.m. in the Murray Unitarian Universalist Church, North Main Street, Attleboro.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Community Visiting Nurses Agency, 10 Emory Street, Attleboro, MA 02703, Sturdy Memorial Hospital Foundation, PO BOX 2963, Attleboro, MA 02703 or the North Attleboro Historical Society, PO BOX 1102, North Attleboro, MA 02761.

I have know Sue since I joined the Attleboro Chapter DAR in 1963. She was a wonderful lady who helped the chapter in many ways. She served on many committies and at one time was the Chapter Regent As Chapter Chaplain, I express our condolences to the LeStage family.
