Thomas Earl Treen, 57, of North Attleborough, MA (and more recently Bradenton Beach, FL), passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, July 10, 2025.
Born August 8, 1967 in Attleboro, MA, Tom was a beloved son to Richard Harvel Treen and Annette Marie Frazier. He was raised in North Attleboro, MA alongside his three loving sisters - Elizabeth Comer of Merrimack, NH; Susan Caldwell of North Attleboro, MA; and Lauren Gurskis of Bradenton Beach, FL.
A 1986 graduate of Bishop Feehan High School, he went on to earn his engineering credentials from Massachusetts Maritime Academy in 1991. Over the years he worked his way up through the ranks of the Merchant Marine Industry and became a Chief Engineer upon vessels on the Great Lakes. A job he approached with the same steady determination he brought to every challenge.
Tom was first and foremost a family man. He married Patricia 'Tricia' Treen on April 10, 1993; they shared 23 wonderful years of marriage before her passing. He was also a beloved father to his two children, daughter Sara Mackenzie Treen-Gerassi of Pembroke Pines, FL, and son Noah Thomas Treen of Annapolis, MD and never missed a chance to laugh, share his witty phrases, or plan their annual vacations to St. Maarten. He found recent joy and happiness alongside his fiancée, Jowenalyn Elsterio, and was proud to welcome her son Manman into his family.
He often said his happiest moments were either on the ice or the water, but always surrounded by his close friends and family. A fierce right wing for Bishop Feehan, he helped lead his hockey team to the 1986 state finals and remained a devoted hockey fan to the Bruins throughout his life. He was equally at home snowmobiling or out on the boat in the sunshine of Florida.
He leaves behind countless friends and extended family who will miss his warmth and playful banter, whether it's at the dinner table, on any fairway, or in any harbor he sailed into.
Tom's funeral will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 beginning with visitation from 3:00 to 5:00PM at Sperry-McHoul-Pichi Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A funeral service, officiated by the Reverend Pamela Corcoran, will be held in the funeral home immediately following the visiting hours, at 5:00 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Tom's name to research for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168
