I have so many special moments with my nanny, but one of my fondest memories is a story that always came up whenever the two of us were together. When I was about four or five, I was fascinated by butterflies. Nan would sit outside with me for hours, watching them flutter around the yard. One day, I told her, "Nanny, I want you to catch me a butterfly!" We didn´t have a net, but that didn´t stop her. She waited for one to land in the grass, then carefully crept up and gently pinched it between her fingers.

"You did it, Nanny!" I shouted with pure excitement. We found a little container and poked holes in the lid, and when nan asked me what I wanted to name my new butterfly, I already had my mind made up on the name Rosie. I told everyone how proud I was that my nanny had caught me a butterfly.

When Rosie eventually passed away (because I was too little to realize butterflies needed food), I called my nanny in tears. That memory captures the kind of woman she was. Patient, gentle, and always willing to go out of her way to bring joy to the people she loved.

Nanny, I miss you. I love you. And I hope that you're surrounded by beautiful butterflies everyday. Whenever I see a butterfly just know I will think of you
