In Memory
Suzanne Faye Dusty Smith (1951-2025)
Suzanne Faye Dusty was born 25 July, 1951, in Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio and passed from this life at her home in Clearwater, Pinellas County, Florida on 26 October, 2025 at age 74. She is the daughter of William Charles Dusty and Evelyn Mardelle Boggs.
In 1956, William and Evelyn moved their family of six to Clearwater, Florida, where Suzanne became a graduate of Clearwater High School in 1969. She later completed an associate's degree in computer science from St. Petersburg Junior College in the 1980's and a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of South Florida in 2005.
She married Robert Leroy "Bob" Smith in Clearwater on February 10, 1970. They are the parents of three sons: Joshua David, Benjamin Reed, and Michael Joseph.
Suzanne is a disciple of Jesus Christ who was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with her husband on 18 September 1971. On 22 September 1972, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Utah Temple of the Church. Her volunteer service in the Church has included numerous callings in Cub Scouts and the Primary, Young Women's, and Relief Society organizations. She served as Ward Primary President, Stake Primary President, and Ward Young Women's president twice.
Suzanne was an avid seamstress and quilter. She was for many years a member of the local Skipped Stitches group of the American Sewing Guild and chair of the philanthropic committee for Quilter's Crossing quilt guild in Palm Harbor, Florida, where she organized the production and delivery of quilts for infants, veterans, the homeless, crime victims, and other families in need. She personally made over 100 baby quilts which she gave to new mothers in the Clearwater Ward of the Church.
Suzanne had a vibrant social life, being a cherished and trusted friend to so many people. She worked for several years as the office manager for Karen Zabrocki Interiors, and as an accountant at Lincare, a company which provided in-home oxygen.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and brothers William Dudley Kieffer and Dwight Douglas Kieffer.
Suzanne is survived by her husband Bob after 55 years of marriage; a sister, Diane Dusty Bauman of Palm Harbor, Florida, a member of the Clearwater Ward; a daughter, Valerie (DiVito) Carnohan and her husband, Bill, of Las Vegas, Nevada; son Josh and his wife, Angela, of Rowlett, Texas; son Benji and his wife, Emily Lau, of Portland, Oregon; son Michael of Seattle, Washington; grandchildren Bryce Carnohan of Charlotte, North Carolina, Myles Carnohan of Dallas, Texas and Maryn Carnohan of Las Vegas; grandchildren Eden Paige (Smith) Sweeney and her husband Sam of Provo, Utah, Evan Smith of Provo, and Noah Smith of Rowlett (children of Josh and Angela); grandchildren Chloe Smith of Gig Harbor, Washington and Owen and Macy Smith of Bellingham, Washington (children of Benji); grandchildren Evelyn and Kaylee Smith of Seattle (children of Michael); great-granddaughter Emilia Daisy Sweeney of Provo; and cherished family cat, Sophie.
Suzanne was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis at the age of two and with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in the last year of her life. She remained cheerful and served many family members and friends valiantly despite many health challenges.
