Obituary of Suzanne (Gapsis) Sour
Suzanne Sour, aged 84, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on the 26th of March 2024 in Peoria, AZ. Suzanne, who was affectionately known as Sue, was born on the 18 of November 1939 to Zan and Vera Gapsis, in Moline, IL. Sue graduated from Moline Senior High School and then furthered her education at Thorton Community College in Harvey, IL where she obtained a degree as a Registered Nurse and dedicated 35 years to her career. Sue was introduced to Richard Sour through a mutual friend who quickly became the love of her life. Richard and Sue were married in August of 1986 and shortly after moved to Arizona in 1987 where they built their first home and lived a fulfilling life for the last 35 years.
Sue found joy in her hobbies, which included knitting, golfing, frequenting arts and crafts fairs, along with attending events from plays to concerts and ballets. Adventurous at heart, she enjoyed the journeys she embarked on with her husband Richard in their RV while visiting their family and friends. Sue was a devoted Christian and active member of the church throughout her life. She was a loving and caring person, committed wife, mother, grandmother and friend who consistently put others first.
Sue is survived by her beloved husband, Richard Sour, her loving children, Rebecca Janczy (William), Roderick Gilmore (Lisa), adored grandchildren, Andrew Janczy (Kristie), Jessica Janczy, Robert Gilmore (Erin), Matthew Gilmore (Alicia), Lauren Ketchem (Andrew), and treasured great-grandchildren, Jace, Ariyah, Zoey, Asher, Maeve, Remy, Maisie, Mila, Lydia, and Gemma. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Langwith (Gary). Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, Zan and Vera Gapsis, and her daughter, Rochelle Gilmore.
The family wishes to inform those who knew and loved Suzanne that a private service will be held at Glennwood Cemetery in Coal Valley, IL at a later date.
Suzanne's warm smile and compassionate heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
