It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvia Collins beloved
Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Sister and Aunt in San Antonio, TX
who went to be with the Lord on November 7, 2023 at the age of 89.
Sylvia was born in St. Paul Minnesota and moved to San Antonio at an early age
with her family, where she was raised and made the city home. She graduated
from St. Gerard High School. Worked as a Secretary for Kanter and Sons Insurance
Company, and later, was a stay at home Mom raising 4 children. She went back to
work as an Administrator for the SAISD ROTC division until her retirement.
Sylvia is survived by her three children, sons Craig Collins, Scott Collins and
daughter Susan Collins. Her two grandchildren Jason Smith, Garrett Smith (Sara),
and her two great-grandchildren Grace and Russell Smith. Her sisters Joyce Teates
and Kathleen Lehman and many nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Sylvia was predeceased by her mother Catherine Cardelli, father Ferruccio Cardelli
and son Jeffrey Cardelli
Sylvia enjoyed spending time with her loved ones. She loved bowling with her
children and friends in various bowling leagues. She attended every sporting event
that her children were involved in growing up, and car pooled many of them.
Later, she continued attending every band event or concert that her grandchildren
were performing.
Vacations to the beach with family and visiting casinos while dropping a coin or
two in the slot machines is what she enjoyed when it was time to get away. Her
hobbies included arts and crafts which she loved to create and give to family and
friends as gifts. Having her coffee in the morning while doing crossword puzzles
from the newspaper was a daily routine.
She was a voracious reader throughout the years and was a big fan of words,
which made her an excellent and very competitive scrabble player. She was also
an excellent cook, which she reminded us all the time. Later in life she was
introduced to YouTube. She loved to relax while listening to her favorite
songs/video's before going to bed.
She was so special to many people throughout her life. She was very caring and
giving. She had a heart the size of Texas. She often put others wants and needs
before hers. She loved her Lord and is now peacefully at home.
