Sylvia Moring Lane

Sylvia Moring Lane, of Chapel Hill, passed away on May 21, 2025. She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Ollen Major Lane, Jr., and her children: Leonard Arden Rigsbee, Angela Lane Roberts, Pamela Leigh Lane (Steve Shirley), and Kimberly Dawn Lane.
She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Madison Roberts George (Kirk), Lane Elizabeth Poag Brown (Gabe), Elizabeth Loy Roberts, Nicholas Ollen Roberts, Leonard Arden Rigsbee, Jr., and Rachel Rigsbee; as well as her great-grandchildren, Blair Katheryn George and Waylon Mitchell Brown.
Born on May 9, 1944, in Durham, North Carolina, Sylvia lived most of her life in the area, working alongside her husband to build and run a successful business. When time allowed, she found great joy at their beach home in Emerald Isle, where she loved spending time with family and friends, always enjoying the peaceful ocean view.
Sylvia had many creative hobbies, including crocheting, pottery, painting, and reading. In later years, she found particular happiness in the simple pleasures of life-spending time with her dogs, planting flowers in the yard, and exploring her family's history through genealogy.
Above all, Sylvia will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother who loved her family deeply.
A visitation will be held from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on Thursday May 29, 2025, at Clements Funeral Home in Durham, N.C. prior to a private family only graveside service.
