Sylvia Louise McBride, age 61, a devoted and loving wife, mother, Nana, sister, and friend, departed this life on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. Funeral Services to celebrate her life and legacy will be on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN, with Pastor Charles Vanness officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, May 20, 2024, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
Sylvia was born on February 15, 1963, in Detroit, MI to Wilburn Gibson and Rebecca Jean English Robison. She worked as a nurse for United Healthcare. She loved caring for people and worked in that profession for 25 years. She never met a stranger and loved life. She loved the beach and loved going on cruises. She enjoyed music and especially loved the music of George Strait and Lionel Richie. She will long be remembered for loving and caring for her family. She was an amazing cook, and she loved spending the holidays with them. She had a special place in her heart for her fur baby, Dino.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jeff McBride of Brighton, TN; one son, Jeffery Hunter McBride (Sarah) of Millington, TN; two daughters, Kasey Christine Craig (Joseph) of Brighton, TN, and Lauryn Laine Nutt (Brandan) of Rosemark, TN; one brother, Daryl Gibson (Connie), and one sister, Tracy Gibson. She leaves a legacy of love for her seven grandchildren, Makenzie, Mikalah, Peyton, Ella Claire, Westyn, Eli, and Jaxon. She was preceded in death by her father, Wilburn Gibson and her mother, Rebecca Jean Robison.
Pallbearers for the service will be Danny Lynn Watson, Scott Tinsley, Adam Scott, Austin Scott, Matt McBride, and Kenneth McBride. Honorary Pallbearers will be Peyton Garner and Westyn Craig.
The family has requested memorials be made to the Baptist Cancer Center in Memphis www.BMHgiving.org Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation, 350 N. Humphreys Blvd. Memphis, TN 38120. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
