Sylvia Colunga Olvera, 60, wife of Nino Olvera, went to be with the Lord on January 27, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on August 9, 1963, in San Antonio, Texas, a daughter of Rebecca R. Colunga and Jose Angel Colunga.
Sylvia accomplished much in life and will be remembered for the way she lived her life as a fierce and vibrant woman, never afraid of life's obstacles and celebratory of its successes. Sylvia worked for SAISD's Irving Academy 10+ years as a cafeteria lady, she was a joy to be around and a friendly face to those she worked with a served. Her time with family were moments she treasured most. Sylvia understood what it meant to truly live life and the simple pleasures with those she loved brought her the greatest joy. Getting together for food, nonalcoholic and of course alcoholic drinks, attending social functions or just spending time one on one with someone she loved and treasured were moments she just lived for. The pride she took in her appearance and the confidence she glowed with were an inspiration to everyone because she took just as much time for herself, and she gave to so many others. When thinking back on Sylvias time with us, one can only smile because of those moments where she just literally lit up the environment no matter what the occasion. She will be remembered always and know that our angel is watching over us.
Sylvia is also preceded in death by Anthony Camacho and Frankie Camacho.
Family members include her children, Amanda C. Olvera, Alexander R. Olvera and Yeshua R. Olvera; granddaughter, Alexandria Camacho; parents, Rebecca R. Colunga and Jose Angel Colunga; siblings, David Colunga, Robert Colunga, Maria Antonia Bernal, Diane Colunga and Jose Angel Colunga Jr; in addition to numerous extended family members and friends.
The family will receive guests at Castillo Funeral Home on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm for visitation.
A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, in the Castillo Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 am. Burial will follow with a graveside service in San Fernando Cemetery III.
