Sylvia Lavera Ross
May 16, 1945 – May 3, 2025
Sylvia Lavera Ross, 79, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025. Born on May 16, 1945, to Delmo and Juliet Harper, she married the love of her life, Gerald Dean Ross, in 1974. Sylvia lived a life full of love, laughter, and strong family ties.
She spent her career as a dedicated supervisor at Texas Instruments, where she worked faithfully until retirement. Outside of work, Sylvia enjoyed a variety of hobbies that reflected her adventurous and playful spirit-bowling, fishing, hunting, gardening, and playing cards and board games with loved ones.
An active member of the VFW, Sylvia cherished her winters spent with her husband, Gerald Dean Ross, at South Padre Island. More than anything, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.
Sylvia is survived by her sons, Joe Potts and wife Bonnie, and Steve Ross; daughters, Deborah Zafar and husband Athar, Susan Ross, and Sharon Ross; her sisters, Judy Harper and Edwina Holtzman; and her brother, Herman Harper. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Gerald Dean Ross; her daughter, Sandra Ross; two brothers, one sister, one grandson and one great-grandson.
In accordance with her wishes, Sylvia will be cremated. In lieu of a formal service, a celebration of her life will be held for family and close friends on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the family farm in Calera, Oklahoma. Please contact the family for further details.
Sylvia will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
