Sylvia N. Weaver, affectionately known as “Mimi,” 89, formerly of Coaldale, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2025, as a guest of Heritage Hill Senior Community in Weatherly.
Born on November 7, 1935, in Tamaqua, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Mildred E. (Kemp) Houser. A proud graduate of Tamaqua High School, Sylvia worked at the office of Dr. Micheal Trainer for many years as the receptionist. She was a gifted gardener, lovingly tending to each bloom with care and attention.
Mimi was warm and deeply devoted to those she loved. She found joy in the rhythm of her days— morning coffee, afternoon sweets, and weekly hair appointments. She delighted in bird watching, especially hummingbirds and blue jays, and shared a lifelong affection for dogs. A longtime resident of Coaldale, she enjoyed walks through her neighborhood and cherished beach bus trips with her brother . Her long phone calls with family and gentle window side observations remain treasured memories.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Cutter” Weaver; son, Kenneth M. Weaver; sisters, Gloria C. Jones and Shirley P. Harkins; and brother, William C. Houser
Sylvia is survived by her son, Kevin S. Weaver and his wife Betsy of Tamaqua; brothers, Barry L. Houser, Neal B . Houser; grandsons, Kyle J. Weaver, Matthew J. Weaver and his wife Jess, and Chase W. Weaver; along with her niece and nephews. Her greatest joy was her family, and though she lived simply, her life was full beyond measure.
