Tammy Sue Flaherty
April 8, 1963 - October 28, 2025
It is with profound love and sadness that we announce the passing of Tammy Sue Flaherty, age 62, who departed this world peacefully in her home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, after a courageous battle with early-onset Alzheimer's disease.
Born on April 8, 1963, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Tammy was the beloved daughter of John "Jay" Preston Flaherty Jr. and Sue Branscome Flaherty. She was the cherished sister of Patricia Flaherty Reid and the late John Preston Flaherty III. Tammy is survived by her mother, Sue Branscome Flaherty; her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Dr. Robert Reid; her niece, Faith Reid; and her nephews, John (Jay) Reid and his wife Danialle, JP Flaherty IV, and Wesley Flaherty and his wife Jillian. She was preceded in death by her father in 1991, brother in 2018, and her grandparents, Converse and Grace Branscome and John Preston and Lillian Flaherty.
Tammy grew up with a vibrant spirit and a deep love for learning and athletics. A graduate of River Valley High School, she played women's collegiate basketball at Denison University before transferring to Miami University (Ohio), where she earned her Bachelor's degree. At Miami, Tammy was a proud Tri Delta sorority sister and a member of a business fraternity. Later, she furthered her education through the Harvard Executive Leadership Program, embodying a lifelong commitment to excellence.
Professionally, Tammy built an extraordinary career marked by leadership, innovation, and dedication. She served as Senior Vice President of Brontel Bearing Bronze alongside her father before founding and leading Steam Turbine Alternative Resources, Inc. and Star Field Fit as Owner and CEO. Her work earned her great respect in the business community, and she often lent her expertise to advisory roles - including consulting with the Governor of Ohio on various initiatives.
Outside of her professional life, Tammy's passions reflected her adventurous and generous heart. She was an avid marathon runner, licensed pilot, and horseback riding enthusiast. She loved boating and cherished her time spent on Catawba Island, where she found joy in lake life. Her energy, humor, and radiant presence made every gathering brighter. Tammy's proudest roles were as a sister, daughter, and aunt.
Above all, Tammy treasured her faith and her family. She lived by the values of God, family, work, and friends, always putting others first. Known for her positivity, compassion, and generosity, she had a special gift for making those around her feel seen and valued. Tammy's giving nature knew no bounds - she often expressed love through thoughtful gestures that left lasting smiles. She will be remembered for her humble and giving ways, warm smile, and love of family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the Catawba Island Club, Main Clubhouse, 4235 E Beachclub Rd., Port Clinton, Ohio 43452, with arrangements entrusted to the Snyder Funeral Center in Delaware.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to organizations supporting Alzheimer's research,
