Tanya Jewel Wakefield (nee Smith), age 67, after a brief illness. Cherished mother of Valerie and the late Brian and Myla Sabrina Wakefield; beloved sister of Valeria Smith and the late Alexis (William "Bill") Atkins, Rayford (Janet) Smith, Renae and Myron Smith; loving aunt of Dumaz, DeGuizz (Gil'Scott Jackson, Sr.), Darius, James and DeaThenese Atkins, Eric Smith, Tinese (Jermie) Miller, Branden (Shalanda) Smith, Christopher (Traci) Smith, Justin (Tyeshia) Smith, and Alia and Tyresha Smith; fond great-aunt of many nieces and nephews; beautiful daughter of the late Harold and Mamie Smith. Grandmama to Tazman James and Tyson John Wakefield, her furry pups.

Tanya was a graduate of Thornton Township High School and spent several years as a Retail Sales Associate with Venture and the K-Mart Corporation. In her free time, she enjoyed being with her family, reading and playing puzzles as well as playing Bingo.
