Taylor Roberts, Jr., 78, of Owensboro, passed away Monday, August 25th following a recently diagnosed illness. He was born in Owensboro to the late Taylor Roberts, Sr. and Louise Turner Roberts.
Mr. Roberts was known to many in Owensboro as “Buddy”. He graduated from Western Kentucky University.
For many years Mr. Roberts worked on the corporate side of retail, many of those years with Family Dollar. This work took him to North Carolina where he resided for 25 years. Back in Owensboro, he developed a thriving business with Taylor Roberts Antiques. This shop was located at the Executive Inn and evolved into online sales. Taylor had also become a licensed pedorthist. He owned and operated “Happy Feet”, serving thousands of customers in the tri-state area with therapeutic shoes and foot related medical supplies for 22 years.
Mr. Roberts enjoyed life to the fullest. He traveled the world- Africa, Paris...and annually to Nassau, Bahamas. Taylor was passionate about fine dining, especially enjoying exotic foods, wine and bourbon. He was a member of the Cupola Club and his travels always included the priority of exceptional restaurants. Taylor was diligent in his search for antiques and collectibles by attending countless auctions. As a member of the Central States Archaeological Society, he spent many hours searching for historical artifacts, especially Native American arrowheads. Taylor also managed to find time to do a fair amount of fishing, with bone fishing being his favorite. In recent years, he found much joy in his 8 “four-legged furry kids”.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife, Ruby Roberts of Owensboro; a son, Brad Roberts (Lindsey) of Lexington; grandchildren, Sylvie and Silas Roberts; and a brother, Ken Roberts of Owensboro.
