Ted Stanley Martin

A funeral service for Ted Stanley Martin, age 76, of Anniston, Alabama, will be held on July 17, 2025. Visitation is scheduled from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with the service to follow at 5:00 PM in The Magnolia House at Cremation Services of East Alabama.
Ted Stanley Martin, 76, of Choccolocco, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025. He was born on November 30, 1948 in Piedmont, AL, to Jack and Bessie Susan Grimes Martin, and was the youngest of three brothers. He graduated from White Plains High School in 1967 and joined the US Air Force 1968. He married the love of his life, Judy Lynn Murray, in 1969, and so they began their life together.
After leaving the service in 1976, Ted worked in the pulp-wooding business for a while and eventually went to work for Mid-South Machinery and later Warrior Tractor (all things John Deere). He worked in parts and sales and everything in between, and was a territory manager until his retirement in 2014.
Ted loved to play golf (and therefore loved to cut grass). His goal was to keep his yard looking like a putting green. He loved to ride his grandkids around on his John Deere lawnmower. He had a whole second family with his golfing buddies and thought the world of every one of them, as well as his poker buddies. He loved to watch some Alabama football and was always proud to watch the Tide roll.
Ted spent decades taking care of his family, but his whole world changed once the grandkids and great-grandkids came along. They were his pride and joy, and he wanted to give them the world. Blood didn't matter to him; he was everyone's granddaddy and nobody could tell him differently.
Left to cherish his memories and pass on his stories are his daughter, Emily Martin Alwine (Mark), and son, Andy Martin (Jill); his grandkids, Allyson Carter (Gene), Jacob Martin (Mya), Jaley Martin, Tucker Martin, Sam Alwine (Mel), Zach Alwine (Ashley), and Isabel Alwine; his great-grandkids, Adalynn Carter, Arya Martin, Amelia Alwine, Gracie Carter, Jackson Singleton, and Emmett Martin; and niece, Verona Martin Clay (Nicky).
Ted had a host of other kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and special friends by love if not by blood, and he never let anyone leave him feeling like they weren't his. He loved his golfing buddies above all and they will always be his honorary family.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Bessie Martin, his brothers, Carl and Rogers Martin, his grandson, Cameron Bryant Winn, and the love of his life, Judy Lynn.
In honor of this great man, the family has requested that everyone wear their favorite casual Alabama Crimson Tide apparel. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
