Teodoro "Teddy" Orta III, age 45, of Poteet, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on August 7, 1979, to Teodoro Orta Jr. and Mary Alice Bazan Orta from Poteet, Texas. Teddy was a beloved son, brother, husband, coach and amazing Father, who left an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew him. His courage and resilience in the face of adversity inspired countless people, and we are grateful for the outpouring of support and prayers over the past couple of weeks. Teddy never lost his faith in God and though his passing leaves a void, his legacy of love, strength, and hope will continue to uplift and inspire us. He is survived by his wife, Angelina Herrera Orta, daughter Reese Orta, his beloved bloodhound dog Popeye Orta, his parents, Teodoro Jr and Mary Orta, sister Zenaida Aguilar and husband Luis, sister Melissa Orta, brother Vincent Orta, Grandmother Alice Cumpian Orta, niece Sofia Aguilar and nephew Sebastian Aguilar who he loved dearly and was always there for them. Beloved aunts and uncles, Louis and Carolyn Vasquez, Gladys O. Campos, Robert and Angie Bazan, Frank Douglas Sr., special cousins, Joseph and Jackie Brown and their children, JoJo and Jenna Brown, along with numerous cousins and relatives who loved him deeply. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Carlos and Sofia Bazan, his paternal grandfather Teodoro Orta Sr., his beloved aunt Mary Alice Orta Douglas, and beloved cousin Louis "Louie" Vasquez Jr.
He worked for San Antonio River Authority for the last 26 years. Teddy loved his crew members and would do anything for them. He was proud of them and would want them to continue the hard work they put in every day.
He was a lifelong member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church. He loved coaching softball and formed special bonds with his team. To his girls always remember " When you see the Ball, Hit the ball"
His passion was BBQing with family and friends, entering BBQ competitions with his team and showing his daughter Reese how to become a Pitmaster. Teddy loved to hang out with his friends, play pool, washers, corn hole and was always ready for opening day of dove season at The Browns.
Teddy loved nothing more in life than his daughter Reese. He loved teaching her how to play softball and become her own Pitmaster. He loved to see her cheer and play volleyball. They enjoyed going to the movies together and taking late night rides around town to pick up snacks. They had a passion for music that will last a lifetime. Reese continues her passion for BBQ on the High School competition team.
If you knew Teddy you knew that he loved to watch Beat Bobby Flay and always said and I quote "I can beat Bobby Flay"
Teddy married Angie on March 9th 2025. He full filled his promise and commitment to her.
