Teresa Jane Ivey Bethune age 72 of Henagar passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services are Wednesday, May 28 at 2 PM CT at Liberty Baptist Church with Elder Tony Ivey and Rev. Fred Waldrop officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Family will receive friends from 3 to 7 PM on Tuesday at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel and from 1 PM until service time at the church on Wednesday.
Teresa was born November 19, 1952 in Chattanooga, TN to parents, Henry Loyd and Helen Louise Newman Ivey. She was a 1971 graduate of Sylvania High School. She graduated from Jacksonville with a Bachelors degree and from Athens with a Masters degree in education. She served as the Secretary and then as a Teacher at Henagar Junior High from 1990 until 2012. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and spent most of her life serving others whether at school or in her community. She is survived by husband of 52 years, David Bethune, daughters, Candace Sizemore(Chad), Lindsey Watkins, grandchildren, Halle and Eva Sizemore, Callie and Kate Watkins, Lilly Underwood, parents, Loyd and Louise Ivey, sisters, Marian Biddle(Joe), Martha Brown(Danny), nieces, Ivey Biddle(Tim), Molly Ivey, nephews, Adam Biddle(Jessica), William Ivey, several additional family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas "Doug" Ivey.
