Teresa Lynn Honeyman, 57, beloved wife of Douglas B. Honeyman, passed away surrounded by her loving family at Saint Mary's Hospital on March 23, 2024, at 7:29 A.M. Born on January 18, 1967, Teresa's radiant spirit touched the lives of many.
Teresa and Douglas shared 35 beautiful years of marriage since their union on April 8th, 1989. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
A devoted mother, Teresa leaves behind her children Austin (Rachel) Honeyman of Silver Spring, MD, Nathaniel (Teylar) Honeyman, and Breanna (Derek) Kane of Knoxville, Illinois. She was also a loving grandmother to Noah, Audrielle, Nathaniel, Amelia, Alyvia, and Tate, and several nieces and nephews who brought immeasurable joy to her life.
Teresa is survived by her father Ivan L. McKim, her mother Linda E. McKim, her sister Marcie (Brad) Bent, and her brother Shawn (Melissa) McKim. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ivan Leroy McKim Jr.
A graduate of Cardinal Middle/Senior High School in 1985, Teresa pursued her passion for caring for others at Sunny Slope and later becoming a Registered Nurse, graduating from Carl Sandburg Nursing School in 1988. Throughout her career, Teresa dedicated herself to providing compassionate care at Knox County Nursing Home, Cottage Hospital, Monmouth Hospital, Western Illinois Home Health Care, and Saint Mary's Hospital. She also served as Assistant Director of Nursing at Heartland Healthcare and Saint Francis Hospital, as well as a District 202 School Nurse and an Adjunct CNA Instructor at Carl Sandburg College.
Beyond her professional achievements, Teresa found joy in simple pleasures. She cherished quiet moments with a good crime novel, basking in the warmth of the sun on the beach, and relishing quality time with her grandchildren. Teresa and Douglas shared a passion for golf, and she found fulfillment in volunteering for mission trips with Northwoods Church. Teresa's love for music was evident in her fondness for artists like Toby Keith, Mandisa, Toby Mac, and Michael Jackson.
Teresa will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
