Teresa Monchak, 74, of Sayre, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025 with her daughters at her bedside at Robert Packer Hospital.

She was born in on April 3, 1951, in Sayre, PA, the daughter of the late Frank and Geraldine (Shaffer) Fritch.

Teresa was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Family was the center of her world. She met and married her true love, John, on July 24, 1970, and they remained inseparable until his passing in 2003.

Teresa took great pride in raising her two daughters. She raised them to be strong, independent, hardworking, loving, and caring. She found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren. Affectionately, known as "Grandma or G" she could be found at baseball, football, softball, and soccer games cheering on her grandchildren whom she loved deeply.

She attended Epiphany School and was a graduate of Sayre High School. Teresa loved everything Elvis, especially listening to his music and had many collectibles. She was an avid New England Patriot fan, cheering on her favorite player, Tom Brady. She enjoyed her scratch off tickets. Teresa loved long car rides going down country roads listening to her music with her beloved husband, John.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband of 33 years; John Monchak, an infant daughter' Kimberly Lee, her grandson; Jonathan Nicholas, and siblings and their wives; Frank and Anne Fritch, Donald and Barbara Fritch, and Gloria and Donald Wilson, brothers; Richard Fritch, and Patrick Fritch, sister; Donna, brothers-in-law Nicholas Monchak and Edward Monchak, and sister-in-law; Irene Gale.

Teresa is survived by her daughters; Terrie and her fiancé David Covey of Sayre, PA, Shelly and her fiancé Shane Peters of Sheshequin, PA, grandchildren; Kirsten Leigh (Mitchell) and Sean Lucas. She is also survived by her sister-in-law; Halina Monchak, brother-in-law and his wife; Gene and Pam Monchak, also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Following Teresa's wishes, a private service will be held. The family is being cared for by Lowery-Urban Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Sayre Healthcare Center for the compassionate care provided during her stay there. We are deeply grateful to the compassionate care of the doctors, nurses, and staff of Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, and especially the Emergency Room and 9SW Nursing Unit for the care they provided.

Burial will be in the Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Athens, PA.
