Teretha Burns-Muhammad was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 1, 1965 to the late Willie James Burns Sr. and Mary Ruth Burns. She departed this life on August 17, 2025.

Teretha attended Henry M. Turner High School and graduated in 1983. She was a hairstylist, driver, and caregiver. She enjoyed traveling, eating, and cooking with family and friends. One of her proudest moments was cooking a big meal for her family and her grandson, Malcolm Jr. "Boobaby", for his first birthday. She loved little babies and elderly people. Seeing others smile made her so happy.

Teretha joined the Nation of Islam over thirty years ago. She was a believer in her leaders, The Honorable Elijah Muhammad and The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakan. She found great comfort in learning, meditating, listening, and spreading the teaching to whoever would listen. Because she truly believed her teaching would bring her back to ALLAH, she was a giving, thoughtful, strong-willed, and hilarious soul. She loved to laugh and listen to all types of music. Taking care of her grandson "Boobaby" and her beloved children was her greatest joy.

Teretha was preceded in death by four brothers, Willie James Burns Jr., Richard Burns, Henry Burns, and Nathaniel Burns. She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Malikah Owensby and Malcolm Sha'deed Burns Sr.; grandson, Malcolm Sha'deed Burns Jr. "Boobaby"; siblings, Deloris Luke, Shirley Farley, and Melvin Burns; sister-in-law, Annie Sue Harris; aunt, Eldora Harris; uncle, Nathaniel Harris Jr.; sisters-nieces, Brendolyn D. Burns and Regina Burns-Elligan; nieces, Wykeshia Luke, ReNita Burns, Jackie Burns, Barbara Thornton, Iretha Burns, Chelsea Burns; niece-daughter, Jasmin Burns; great-nieces, ShaQuita Miller, Oreana Luke, De'reon Luke, Naimah Burns, ShaNaya Watkins, Zamaria Thompkins, and a host of great-nieces; nephews, Octavius Luke, Richard Burns Jr., Leviticus Burns, Chris Stroghill, Demario Burns, Emmanuel Burns, Elijah Burns; great-nephews, Brandon Elligan, Gerald Gooden III, Eric Luke, Diamante Luke, Marcellus Burns, Devario Burns, and a host of great-nephews.
