Obituary published on Legacy.com by William G. Basralian Funeral Service on Feb. 12, 2026.
Terrence J. Lafferty of New Milford, New Jersey, passed away on February 10th, 2026 at the age of 69. He leaves behind a legacy defined by strength, sportsmanship, laughter, and an unwavering love for his family.

Born to John "Jack" Lafferty and Anna Lafferty, Terry grew up with a competitive spirit and a natural athletic ability that would become a defining part of his life. He achieved significant accomplishments in sports during his younger years, earning recognition for his talent, discipline, and determination. Athletics were not just something he did, they were part of who he was. The lessons of teamwork, resilience, and perseverance stayed with him long after the final whistle.

Terry always knew how to have a great time! He brought energy into a room, appreciated the lighter side of life, and understood that moments of laughter were meant to be shared. His presence was steady yet spirited, competitive when it counted, and always ready to enjoy the day.

He is survived by his former wife, Leslie Lafferty; his daughter, Tara Thurber, and her husband, Brian Snyder; and his cherished grandchildren, Amber and Cedar, who brought him immense pride and happiness. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Lafferty, and sister-in-law, Nancy Lafferty of Virginia Beach, Virginia; his niece, Katie Lafferty of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and his nephew, John Lafferty of San Diego, California. He was predeceased by his parents, John "Jack" Lafferty and Anna Lafferty.

Terry will be remembered as a proud father, a devoted grandfather, a fierce competitor, and a man who truly knew how to enjoy life. His stories, his strength, and his love will continue through the family he cherished so deeply.

He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
