Terry Edward Barnhart

Terry Edward Barnhart, 77, passed away in St. Cloud, Florida after a brief illness. Terry was born on May 13, 1947 in Hanover, Pennsylvania and was raised in the nearby town of Pleasant Hill. After the death of his father in 2003, Terry moved, along with his mother, to Haines City, Florida where they could be cared for by his brother, Jim.
As a boy, Terry helped raise hogs on the family farm. As an adult, he found work as a custodian, most notably working at the Hanover Shoe factory until it closed. He enjoyed woodworking, riding his bike, and talking to everyone he met. In Florida, he loved going out to eat with his brother and would often point out the various places they had shared a meal together. In his later years, thanks to a chance encounter at his dentist's office, Terry became involved in The Special Olympics program, where he competed and won many medals in the sports of Bocce, Bowling, and Walking.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Kathryn (Ecker) Barnhart of Hanover, Pennsylvania and his brother, James Barnhart of Haines City, Florida. He is survived by his niece, Stephanie Barnhart (Michael Reid) of Decatur, Georgia. The family will hold a private ceremony in Pleasant Hill at a later time.
