Funeral service for Terry L. Burch, 78, of Temple, TX will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025 at Letitia Baptist Church with Pastor Matt Kelly officiating
Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
Public visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a special visitation from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, June 30th, 2025 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Burch went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 12th, 2025.
Terry was born on August 28th, 1946 in Grand Island, Nebraska to the late Leroy Dexter and Betty Shadel. She graduated from Lawton High School in 1964 and married David (Chigger) Burch in 1964, and to that union four daughters were born. Terry started her career at Public Service Company in 1972 and left in 1994 after 22 years. In 1994, she started college at Cameron University in
Lawton, OK, and in 1996, she was accepted to Midwest State University in Wichita Falls, TX graduating as Magna Cum Laude earning a Bachelor's of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. She began working as a dental hygienist in 1998, working for two separate dentist, Dr. Wuse Cara and Dr. Phillip Aday. Her first year of employment, Terry, along with one other student was invited to speak at the Oklahoma House of Representatives about their experience of starting over in a new career field, with the financial help of one of the Oklahoma State agencies that provides funds to help workers change vocations. Terry worked as a dental hygienist for almost 20 years before retiring in 2018. Terry was a very active mother. She coached elementary soccer and coached cheer leading for the middle school and high school. She was always very active in her daughters sports events as well as 4H and FFA. She served one term on the Geronimo School Board, and also served as a sunday school teacher for the woman sunday school class at Letitia Baptist Church and taught a bible study for four years. Although she was busy with work and activities for her children, she always managed to squeeze in time for her own hobbies. She loved to paint and take photos, wanting to photograph every moment of her families life. Terry was also active in the Fire Fighters Woman's Auxiliary. In April, of 2025, she moved to Temple, TX to spend time with her daughter Lauri, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her three daughters, Amy and Mike Smith, Laura Burch, and Casey and Kevin Daniel; two brothers, Vaughn and Marilou Dexter, and Larry Dexter; five sisters; Deanna Henderson, Donna Kennedy, Linda Whittle, Tammy Dexter, and Avis Miller; six grandchildren, Chantel, Payton, Darien, Christian, Alec, and Brooklynn; eight great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Burch; Step mom, Mary Dexter; and a brother in law, Johnny Henderson.
