Terry Carroll of Madison, Illinois, left this world on October 11, 2025, likely doing things his own stubborn way right up until the end.
He was born in East St. Louis and raised between Collinsville and Granite City, Illinois, where he spent most of his life surrounded by the people, places and habits he refused to change. Terry could be equal parts frustrating and funny, often in the same five minutes. He wasn't always easy to love, and sometimes he made sure of that-but he was still our dad.
He taught us more than he probably realized: how to stand our ground, how to handle things ourselves, and maybe most importantly, how not to take life-or each other-too seriously.
Terry is survived by his kids, Christina Eyman and Terry Carroll, who inherited his stubborn streak, his sarcastic sense of humor, and maybe a few unresolved questions. Their spouses Thomas Eyman and Angela Carroll.
Grandchildren; Cassidy Eyman, Adam Eyman, Cooper Eyman and Alexis Carroll
Sisters; Victoria Carroll and Debbie Mundell
Biological Mother Vivian Stelzer
Nieces; Nicole, Brittany, and Jessica along with their spouses as well as the next generation of his great niece and nephew tribe that he was soon to impart his words of wisdom upon.
He was greeted at the doors of Heaven by his father Eugene "Moose" Carroll, mother Carolyn "Chick" Carroll and brother Garen Carroll.
In true Terry fashion, there won't be a big fuss or a formal service. We'll honor him our own way, with a few laughs, a few eye rolls, and probably a story or two that starts with "Remember that time Dad "
Rest easy, old man. You did your way-of course you did.
The family is being served by Sunset Hill Funeral Home, 50 Fountain Drive, Glen Carbon, Illinois 62034. (618) 656-3220
