Terry "Bud" West, age 64, of Ball Ground, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2024. Born on January 31, 1960, in Cumming, Georgia to the late Jackie and Dora West. Terry's zest for life was evident through his many passions, which included trout fishing, watching NASCAR, and working in his vegetable garden.
An excellent cook and a talented carpenter, Terry took joy in creating and building, which was surpassed only by the love and pride he had for his family. His talkative nature and inventive spirit brought life to every conversation and project. Most of all, Terry cherished the moments spent with his grandchildren, whose lives he enriched with his enthusiasm and care.
Terry's absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, as he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a trove of memories that will be forever cherished in the hearts of his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Gregory Lamar West. Terry is survived by his wife of 36 years, Dorothy West; daughter, Sara Ivie (Andrew); stepdaughters, Michelle Brooks and Nichole Stovall (Daniel); 6 grandchildren, Anastasia Ivie, Isabella Ivie, Mycah Brooks, Maya Brooks, Ari Stovall and Phoebe Stovall; sisters, Patricia Burger (David) and Dinah West (John); 2 dogs, Jaida and Buddy and Smooch the cat, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Ophir Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Fields officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sosebee Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to assist the family with funeral expenses.
