Terry William West, born on April 10, 1936, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024, at the age of 88. Growing up in a rural community and the eldest of eight children, he attended Cherry Hill School, a one room school house, with his classmates in grades Kindergarten through 8.
Terry continued his education at Plymouth Public Schools, where he played varsity football, further developing his strong work ethic. After graduation, he attended Cleary College part time and nights, for seven years while working a full-time job.
At the age of 22, Terry proudly Joined the Air National Guard Reserves, serving for seven years. During this time, he welcomed his sons, Victor and Steven, into the world, both of whom he cherished deeply throughout his life.
In his professional career, Terry earned respect as a dedicated businessman and licensed real estate broker. He served as NBD bank branch manager, Vice President of Detroit Federal Savings & Loans for eight years, Vice President of Alexander Hamilton for 15 years, and as a consultant for Rose Moving Company, retiring after 26 years at the age of 87.
An avid fisherman and a reluctant golfer, Terry looked forward to annual fishing trips with lifelong friends, delighting in both catching fish and serving as camp cook (those of us who knew, wondered how) for the gang. In addition, he was an active member in various organizations including the VFW and Farmington Area Republicans.
He shared 37 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Judy, with whom he prioritized family and faith at Nardin Park United Methodist Church. Terry was a dedicated member of the church congregation where he served on numerous committees over the years.
Terry is survived by his wife Judy, sons Victor and Steven (Sally), siblings Phillip West (Norma), Nancy Smith (Andy), Kathy West, Michael West, and Karen Jones, as well as stepchildren Sherry Brodowsky (Jeff), Renee Moore, Michelle DeJaeger, and Jerry Serafini (Jamie). Terry's spirit will forever remain in our hearts until the day we meet again.
