It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terry Yoder, longtime member of the Freeport community, who departed this life on May 15, 2025, at the age of 71.
Terry was born to Gordon and Leonora (Lee) Yoder, graduated from Middleville High School, and worked diligently for many years at Ace Hardware. He found great joy in the outdoors, especially in his garden and woodworking projects. His remarkable woodworking skills were not confined by borders; he built homes across the globe; leaving behind a legacy of his craftsmanship. He had a unique talent for envisioning intricate designs and bringing them to life, often using recycled or repurposed materials that reflected his creativity and resourcefulness. Terry was also a devoted gardening enthusiast and a true connoisseur of plants. He generously shared his extensive knowledge with neighbors, offering tips and advice tailored to the challenging northern Michigan climate. In addition to his love for plants, he embraced the simplicity of farm life, raising chickens and guinea fowl with care and contentment.
Terry is lovingly remembered by his sisters, MaryAnn (Lou) Karides, Sharon (Doug) Geurink, and Julie (Matt) Gregory; his children, Cody (Kaitlyn); and his grandchildren. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A casual gathering to celebrate Terry's life will be announced at a later date.
