KINGSPORT – Thelma "Louise" Carter, 90, passed peacefully into her Heavenly home on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at her residence following an extended illness.
Louise was born in Kingsport, TN on June 27, 1934, and lived in Kingsport all her life. She attended Vernon Heights Baptist Church for 50+ years and then attended Gravelly Baptist Church. Louise loved the Lord and lived her life for him. She was the assistant manager at Bon Worth for many years and retired at 73 years old after many years of service. She loved to cook and was known for her Banana Split cake. Louise was an avid reader and has probably read over 10,000 books. She and her late husband Buddy loved to travel and had been to 49 states. She was a wonderful wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who always put her family first.
She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Mabel (Dorton) Meade; husband, Buddy C. Carter; and her brothers, Ott, Gilmer, and Frank Jr. Meade.
Louise is survived by her sons, Danny Carter (Dawn), Ron Carter (Kathy), and Mike Carter (Shellena); grandchildren, Melody Medukas (Patrick), Alyse Chandler (Johnny), Katrina Lloyd (Thomas), Braden Carter, and Collin Carter; great grandchildren, Kylie Medukas, Juliet Medukas, Kinley Lloyd, and Dylan Lloyd; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Salley officiating. A graveside service will follow in procession to Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Patrick Medukas, Trey Rafalowski, Thomas Lloyd, Braden and Collin Carter, Charlie Lipe, and Leroy Lawson.
