Theodore (Ted) Allums was born June 11,1925, in Chicago Illinois. He was the youngest son of Washington and Lola Simmons Allums. Ted passed away on October 19, 2025, at the age of 100.
Ted attended Shoop School and Morgan Park High School in Chicago Illinois and proudly served in the United States Navy. After his service, he had a long career in the airline industry – specifically Northwest Airlines. He was also an entrepreneur and barber. Ted learned and started barbering while in the Navy. After moving from Milwaukee to Ocala in 1987, Ted worked in security for more than a decade at Oak Run Community. Ted loved to actively participate in sports and was particularly passionate about bowling and golfing.
Ted was known for his hard work, cheerful demeanor and a wonderful singing voice. He never met a stranger. Ted loved western shows and old movies.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife Earleen Lockett Allums; siblings Thomas Allums, Millie Lewis, Lula Lewis, Emma Marie Greer, Edward Allums, Gertrude Robinson, Lillian Cornelius and Margaret Cooper.
He leaves to cherish his memories two children – Gail (Huston) Breedlove and Linda (George) Watkins; three grandchildren – Evanna M., Monica E. and Mario D. Breedlove; grandchildren – Lauren and Maya Breedlove; and a special great niece, Marcella (Bill) Reed; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Above all, Ted was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who loved his family and the Lord with unwavering faith.
