Theresa Linda Sherlock Bleckley peacefully departed this life on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 10:55 p.m. She passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and presence of her brothers and sisters. She was 68 years old. Born on December 26, 1956, in Columbia, South Carolina, Theresa was the beloved daughter of the late Francis and Lois Sherlock. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Oral Eugene “Geno” Bleckley, and her sister, Penny Sherlock Cross. Theresa is survived by her loving siblings: Patsy Sherlock, Michael Sherlock, Peggy Sherlock Melendez, Josephine Sherlock Delcastillo, Joseph Sherlock, Pamela Sherlock Westbury, Tannis Sherlock Uribe, David Thomas Sherlock and Kim Kyzer Sherlock. Together, they shared a bond of deep affection, faith, and laughter. She will also be remembered fondly by her many nieces and nephews who adored their Aunt Theresa and her big smile, sense of humor, and unmistakable laugh. A lifelong South Carolinian, Theresa attended Dreher High School. She enjoyed her job at Merlin’s Night Club during her early years and dedicated over 25 years to Walmart, where she worked as a department manager and an associate in vendor relations. She was known for her hard work, loyalty, and kindness to everyone she met. Theresa enjoyed boating and fishing, scrapbooking and was a South Carolina Gamecocks fan. She was a devoted animal lover and found great joy in her beloved dogs, Summer and Tsali, who have gone before her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family and friends will remember her as a kind-hearted, funny, and generous soul who brought joy wherever she went. Out of ten brothers and sisters, eight remain, and though their hearts are broken, they take comfort knowing that Theresa is now reunited with her loved ones in Heaven, soaring among the angels.
A funeral service to honor Theresa’s life will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Moseley Funeral & Cremation Service, 914 Meeting Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.
