Theresa Josephine Hilke, age 87, of Argyle, was born December 8, 1936, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Oscar Henry and Antonie Agnes (Dulle) Distler, and passed from this life Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at StoneBridge Senior Living - Westphalia, surrounded by her loving family.
She was married June 9, 1956, at Jefferson City, to Fred Sylvester Hilke, who preceded her in death on April 6, 2010.
Theresa was a member of the St Aloysius Catholic Church, Argyle. She was a member of the Argyle Knights of Columbus Council No. 2047 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Saint Jude 4th degree Ladies Auxiliary, along with being the treasurer of the school board in Argyle, and the Ladies Sodality, Argyle.
She was a devoted housewife and homemaker who enjoyed gardening, baking, embroidery, playing cards, but most of all spending time with her family.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Theresa Hilke include: three sons, David Hilke and wife, Renee, of Jefferson City; Donald Hilke and wife, Debbie, of Jefferson City; and Doug Hilke and wife Robin, of Argyle; two daughters, Debra Rowe and husband, Larry, of Iberia; and Diane Luebbering and husband, Tim, of Wardsville; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Butler (Michael), Cynthia Frevert (Tyler), Alex Hilke, Brent Rowe (Samantha), Trisha Backues (Connor), Mandi Luebbering, Grant Luebbering, and Paige Luebbering; eight great-grandchildren, Eli, Everly, Norah, Palmer, Zoey, Kayden, Kameron, Jeremy, and one more expected September 2024; one brother, Vincent Distler of Jefferson City; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Fred, Theresa was preceded in death by her father, Oscar on June 22, 1962; her mother, Antonie on July 18, 1970; three sisters, Mary Alice Edgar on January 1, 1989, Margaret Ann "Margie" Prenger on August 28, 2009, and Rosemary Theresa Schulte on December 3, 2014; two brothers, Paul Raymond Distler Sr. on August 19, 2017, and Jerome E. "Jerry" Distler on December 5, 2020; three brothers-in-law, Charles Everett "Brownie "Edgar Jr. on March 1, 1996, Norbert Bernard Prenger on September 29, 2015, and Francis Joseph Schulte on October 6, 2013; and three sisters-in-law, Earline Pauline Distler on October 19, 2022, Norma Lea Distler on October 28, 2011, and Patricia Ruth Distler on August 5, 2009.
Visitation for Mrs. Theresa Hilke will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 19, 2024, and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 20, 2024, all in the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 260 Pine Street, Argyle, MO 65001, with her Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. James Finder officiating along with Rev. Basil Tigga, under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.
Interment for Mrs. Theresa Hilke will be beside her loving husband, Fred, in the St. Aloysius Cemetery, Argyle. Pallbearers for Mrs. Theresa Hilke will be Brent Rowe, Grant Luebbering, Alex Hilke, Vincent Distler Jr., Ron Prenger, and Charles Edgar Jr. Honorary Pallbearer for Mrs. Theresa Hilke will be Wayne Distler.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Theresa Hilke are suggested by the family for masses and the Knight of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Council No. 2047, with envelopes available at the church or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, MO 65582

She made the best Red Velvet Cakes. When I (Rita) would spend the night with Debbie at her house. Sometimes Debbie mom would bake a Red Velvet Cake . She was a wonderful mom, she always made me feel so welcome in there home.
