Norwich - Theresa Mastalerz, age 97, passed away June 13, 2025 at Colonial Health & Rehab. She was born on October 22, 1927 in Shirley, MA to the late Theophile and Ursula (Lanteigne) Chiasson. She was predeceased by her husband Aloysius Mastalerz.
Theresa is survived by her 3 daughters Carolyn (Michael) Herrick, Patricia (John) Zinewicz and Mary Ann (Karl) Bentz and one son, Richard (Kim, deceased) Mastalerz, her siblings, Augustin Chiasson, Anna May Tron and David Chiasson, 8 grandchildren Nathan Herrick, Zachary (Susana, deceased) Herrick, Aaron (Lindsey) Herrick, Jonathan (Tanya) Zinewicz, Jessica Bentz, Eric (Karen) Bentz, Kevin Mastalerz and Tyler (deceased) Mastalerz and 19 great grandchildren, Isabella, Gabriella, Marcus, Harper, Arianna, Hudson, Hadlee, Haylee, Matthew, Alyson, Avery, Tyler, Elliot, MacKenzie, Hunter, Connor, Christian, Kyleigh and Kynsley.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Alphonse and Albert Lanteigne, Eva, Jimmy, Thomas, Robert and John Chiasson, Geraldine Grenon, Cecile Gromko, Rita Kirk, Jeanette Willey, Shirley Boucher, and Anita LaFond.
Theresa worked at Mr Big's and Reid & Hughes in Norwich. She enjoyed the casino, playing Bingo, reading, listening to country music and watching the Boston Red Sox. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren attending sporting events, school activities and family gatherings. Theresa was a kind and loving person whose sense of humor and stories will be treasured by all forever. She left a legacy behind and will be greatly missed.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff at Colonial Health & Rehab in Plainfield for their kindness, support and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Taftville Volunteer Fire Department, 134 Providence St., Taftville, CT 06330.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 19th at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, 156 Providence St, Taftville. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
