Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A.Theresa Catherine Merritt (nee Salzer), born on October 14, 1937, in Minnesota, passed away in Annapolis, Maryland, on July 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. A cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Theresa lived a life full of warmth, kindness, and dedication to her loved ones.
She is remembered for her deep affection for her family, including her beloved husband of seventy years, Clyde W. Merritt; and her sons, David R. Merritt and Bill M. Merritt. Theresa was also proud to see her family grow and thrive, leaving behind a legacy enriched by her grandchildren: Ryan, LaTricia, Jennifer, Amanda, Adam, and Colleen. Additionally, she will be fondly remembered by her surviving siblings, Doreen, Dorothy, Karen, Sally, Rita, Margie, Annella, Joseph, and Andrew, as well as several great and great-great grandchildren who brought joy to her life. She was predeceased by her son, Keith Merritt, and siblings, Harry and Mary Jane, who together left a mark on her heart.
Throughout her years, Theresa embraced her passions and hobbies with great enthusiasm. She loved to crochet, read, and travel, often sharing her experiences and crafts with those she loved. Her green thumb shone brightly, especially in her nurturing care for African Violets, which she tended to with devotion.
Theresa’s life was shaped by the bonds she created through familial ties and friendships, especially with her church family at St. Paul's.
Visitation services will be held at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services in Glen Burnie, Maryland, on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service to honor her memory will take place at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM. The interment at MD Veterans Cemetery will be on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025.
Theresa C. Merritt will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Theresa's name to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 308 Oak Manor Dr., Glen Burnie, MD 21061, www.stpaulsgb.org.
