Theresa "Terri" A. Ferko, age 64, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 30, 2024. She was born in Erie on September 10, 1960, a daughter of Michael Ferko, of North East and the late Jean (Halquist) Ferko.

Terri's childhood was in North East, Pa., where she enjoyed family badminton matches, playing board games, listening to music, and helping to care for her siblings. She graduated summa cum laude from Gannon University with a degree in Business Administration. Terri was a devoted and loving stay-at-home mom for many years before returning to work, most recently as a Human Resource Generalist for the City of Erie. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church. Terri liked spending time on the family farm, sightseeing on road trips, playing word games on her tablet, watching crime shows, and tracking down the best bargain when shopping. She had quite the sweet tooth, especially for homemade cinnamon rolls, and always enjoyed a good meal, often rating them on a scale from "good" to "fabulous." Most importantly, Terri loved her family and her three grandkitties, Liza, Lily, and Loki. She is remembered for being very strong in the face of adversity, especially during her battle with a progressive neurological disease.

Besides her mother, Terri was preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, Rick Ferko. In addition to her father, survivors include her children, Kelli and Kevin Ferko of Erie; two brothers, Dan Ferko of Angier, N.C., and Scott Ferko (Mary Jo), of Asheville, N.C.; one sister, Barbara Ferko-Cotten (Noel Bilodeau), of Kenly, N.C., and numerous extended family members.

Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St., on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of prayers at 1 p.m., followed by the funeral mass at Our Lady of Peace Church at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chosen Mission Project, 3638 West 26th St. Erie, PA 16506; or the Erie Humane Society, P.O. Box 3930, Erie, PA 16508.

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Terri from City Hall. Anytime I went in to see her she always had a smile on her face and tried to handle whatever situation I brought her. She will be missed.

Kelli and Kevin, your mom was such a wonderful person. I'll never forget how kind she was and how comfortable she made me felt when I visited Erie with Jaclyn for the first time. I always appreciated how much interest she took in what was going on my life when we would have discussions about how the teaching profession was going. Dan, Scott, and Barb, I am so sorry for the loss of your sister. Mike, and everyone in the Ferko family, I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.

Haaa .She was such a sweetheart ..my love to all of you
