Thomas Ray Bethune

Thomas Ray Bethune, 70, passed away on December 15, 2024, at 2:56 PM at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins, GA. Born on May 15, 1954, in Fairbanks, AK, he was the son of the late Cleveland Sylvester Bethune, Jr. and Rubye Katherine Abney Bethune. Thomas was a proud graduate of Northside High School and Georgia Institute of Technology. After graduation he worked as an Electrical Engineer throughout his career, having retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base.
Thomas had a wide range of interests and hobbies, including fishing, woodworking, reading, traveling, genealogy, and computers. He was known for his kind heart and was well-liked by everyone who knew him, always finding the good in others. His warm personality and generosity will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rubye and Cleveland Bethune, Jr., and his sister, Faye Breland.
Thomas is survived by his loving spouse, Vivian H. Bethune; several nieces and nephews: Kimberly Potter (niece) and her spouse Les, Neal Lowery (nephew) and his spouse Patty. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law: Brenda Kiskaden (spouse Larry), Pam Redden (spouse Larry), Theresa Jones, Debbie Hargett, and Pat Hargett.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 6:00 PM at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel, 2932 Hwy. 41 N, Fort Valley, GA 31030. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Grant Abernathy officiating. The burial will follow at Parkway Memorial Gardens in Warner Robins, GA.
