Thomas Eugene ‘Gene’ Cape, 74, of Abbeville, husband of Donna H. Cape, died Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at his mother’s home. He was born in Abbeville to Mary Sue Cape and the late Paul E. ‘Eddie’ Cape, Sr..

Gene was a 1968 graduate of Abbeville High School and a member of Midway Baptist Church. He retired from Prysmian with 33 years of dedicated service. Gene was an avid Clemson Tiger fan and enjoyed going to NASCAR races.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul E. Cape, Jr.; grandson, Tyler McMurtury and nephew, Jeffrey Cape.

Gene is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter, Michelle McMurtury; son, Steven Spires all of Abbeville; two granddaughters, Kirstie Imhof (Richard) of Abbeville, Grace Kerby (Nick) of Arizonia; two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Wyatt Imhof; sister, Anne Ashley (Ricky); sister-in-law, Kay Cape; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Gene's life will be 2:00PM, Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Midway Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Greer officiating.
