Thomas Jo Chapel

Thomas Jo Chapel, 50, passed away unexpectedly at home on June 10, 2025. He was born on February 11, 1975, to Larry and Billie (Walbridge) Chapel in Bonners Ferry, ID. Tom grew up at his families Cedar Mill in Troy. He attended Troy schools, graduating with the Class of 1994. Tom was aptly to be crowned as "the life of the party".
While in school, he loved playing football and was always proud to have been part of the 1992 Montana State Champion Football team, the only time Troy has ever won a state football trophy in his era.
Tom never met a stranger. He had a way with people that made them want to know him better. With his mischievous grin and easy-going ways, he was never without friends. It was even whispered in some circles that Tom coined the phrase "It's all good".
Tom loved his music and if you were a special friend, he would share his favorite songs with you. With these friends, and a long list of his pitbulls that included Bo, Jake, Joker, Lily and last but not least, his sweet Remi, they spent countless hours exploring the mountains he called home. He was always on the hunt for that special and unique rock or piece of wood that he would bring home to share with his family and friends. He also loved fishing and hunting. He was very kindhearted, was a talented artist and had a gift for running heavy equipment.
Tom is survived by his father Larry and stepmom Terri; daughter Kala; grandson Beau; sister-in-law JeriAnn; nephew Mason (Alex); niece Paige; great-niece Peyton; extended family; his aunts; and numerous cousins. Tom was preceded in death by his mother Billie; sister Shannon; brother Doug; and his grandparents.
Tom's family asks that you remember Tom with your favorite stories that will make you grin or even laugh. Tom would have wanted that. There will be a graveside service at the Troy Cemetery, Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg Funeral Home of Libby.
