Thomas Francis Cleighton

Thomas Francis Cleighton (67) of Roslyn, Pennsylvania peacefully passed away on November 24, 2024, surrounded by his wife and children.
Thomas, also known as Tom, Tommy, Hon, Dad, and Pop, was born to the late Thomas E. and Elizabeth (Gindhart) Cleighton on May 7, 1957, in Elkins Park, PA. Tom was one of three children. He was predeceased by his brother Robert (Bob) Cleighton and is survived by his sister, Eileen (Cleighton) Ganley.
Tom graduated from Abington High School. On January 8, 1977, Tom married his high school sweetheart, Joanne (Denelsbeck) Cleighton. Together they raised three wonderful children: Kelly (Steve), Kristin (Corey) and Thomas J. (Tina) on St. Charles Place in Roslyn. Through the years, Tom and Joanne have built lifelong friendships with their neighbors.
Tom was a loyal "bread man" for Stroehmann Bread for nearly 30 years, where he was highly regarded for his hard work, kindness, and sense of humor. After the workday, for about 20 years, you could find Tom on a field somewhere reffing a field hockey or lacrosse game. Since his kids were in grade school at St. John of the Cross, Tom was coaching something-basketball, softball, or baseball. Tom coached basketball at all levels-even college. He was so proud to have served as an Assistant Coach for Women's Basketball at Gwynedd Mercy University for 10 years. After retiring from Stroehmann, Tom was a park ranger at Alverthope Park for 5 years.
Tom's favorite title was being Pop to his six grandchildren: Dylan, Cole, Tommy, Reid, Charlotte, and Tyler. Tom is also loved and survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to Tom's Life Celebration on Monday, December 2, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 PM and again on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, from 10-11:30 AM at Craft Givnish Funeral Home, 1801 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001. His Funeral Service will follow at 11:30 AM. Luncheon to follow service.
