Thomas Angelo DeBellis ("Junior") beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on May 22, 2025, at the age of 85.
Born on January 28,1940 in Poughkeepsie, NY, Thomas was a loving husband to Carole, who he married on June 17, 1961, and was a loving father to Doreen, Suzanne, Christine and David. He was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and worked at IBM from 1961 until his retirement in 1993 as a staff engineer. He was an extremely outgoing man who enjoyed having conversations with others, whether they were friends or complete strangers. He loved going to the beach, which many family members enjoyed with him, often in Outer Banks, NC. He had a very deep sense of family, always making time for family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Thomas was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Anna, his brother Michael DeBellis, and his sisters Antoinette Lattanzio, Yolanda DeBellis and Mary Ranalli.
He is survived by his wife Carole, his daughters Doreen Kerr (Kevin), Suzanne Thoma (Robert), Christine Smith (Raymond), his son David DeBellis (Erica), his brother Robert DeBellis, and his sister Gloria Ossolinski. He is also survived by his 10 adoring grandchildren Alyssa Reid, Andrew Kerr, Cassandra Cummings, Rachel Thoma, Caitlin McCoy, Morgan Thoma, Nicolas DeBellis, Lucas Toussaint, Jacob DeBellis, and Shawn Thoma, along with his 4 great-grandchildren Paige Reid, Wesley Reid, River Kerr, and Ryan Kerr. He also has several nieces and nephews that survive him.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Kateri Church onMay 30th at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at the mausoleum at St. Peter's Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the entire team at Hudson Valley Hospice for their compassionate care, support and kindness in Tom's final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Thomas' memory to Hudson Valley Hospice, 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
We are especially grateful to Tom's nighttime caregivers Patty, Sheila and Kim for the loving care and support they provided him and our family. Their kindness and compassion brought great comfort to us all.
