Thomas J. Divens Jr. was born on January 1, 1963, the son of Lana G. Divens and Thomas Divens Sr. (deceased). On August 9, 2025, Thomas entered into eternal rest.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Trever T. Divens; children, Christopher J. Divens (Jada) and Christian X. Divens (Broderick); mother, Lana G. Divens; brother, Kiel M. Divens; sister-in-law, Cynthia Tate; brothers-in-law, Irvine Tate III, Glenn (Colette), Kentrell, Rodney, and Keith Tate; aunt, Elizabeth Lambert; godmother, Olita Young; goddaughters, Brandy Brimmer and Mallorie Brimmer; along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Divens Sr.; father-in-law, Irvin Tate Jr.; mother-in-law, Irene Tate; paternal grandparents, Julius and Beatrice Divens; maternal grandparents, Louis and Edna Gilbert; sisters-in-law, Latanja Divens and Sharon Tate.
Thomas attended St. Augustine High School, Class of 1980, and Dillard University, Class of 1984.
Friends and family are invited to the funeral service on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at St. Stephen Baptist Church, 1738 LB Landry Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70114.
The Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery, 1257 Lafayette Street, Gretna, LA 70053.
Professional Arrangements are entrusted to Murray Henderson Funeral Home, 1209 Teche Street, New Orleans, LA 70114.

Brother Divens was upbeat and a very dedicated defensive lineman. I had the honor of celebrating the State championship trophy as a young player with him. He was also a polished gentleman when we saw each other later in life. May God bless him and his family.
