Thomas Charles Dutton,
"Tom"
Thomas, age 89, of Brookfield Wisconsin was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on May 28th, 2023. Tom was born in Nekoosa Wi September 24th, 1933, son of James C. Dutton, and Ellen L. (Shinners) Dutton. Tom is survived by his beloved children, Steve Dutton, Patrick Dutton (Gina Huck) and Shannon (Guy) Jacobi, his grandchildren, Thomas Dutton (Alex Bohn), Jacob (Abby) Dutton, Brittany Huck, Noah, Maddy, and Callie Jacobi, great-grandchildren, Finley, Owen, Ellis, and Hadley Dutton. Favorite Uncle Tom is further survived by many loved nieces, and nephews. Preceded in death by the 60-year love of his life Marlene Rose (Riemer) Dutton.
Tom graduated from Marshfield High School in 1951. Shortly after graduating he served our country proudly in the US army during the Korean conflict. In 1959 he earned his business degree from UW Eau Claire where he then went on to start a successful 50-year career as an insurance agent, including having his own independent agency.
Tom enjoyed many pastimes including endless bridge clubs, reading, trivia, crosswords, and movies of all kinds often w/ dark humor. A favorite pastime of his was taking care of his yard, from cutting the grass to raking up the pods from the trees, he took pride in his family home. He enjoyed cooking on his BBQ (mostly well done!). An avid sports fan he loved cheering on all sports teams, but especially the Packers and Brewers. Tom and Marlene took many vacations, and there was little territory uncharted. One of his most revered trips was the Honor Flight, which honored a great man, whose humble feelings inspired the family.
At the age of 52, Tom found sobriety through Alcoholics Anonymous. He helped countless people find their own sobriety through sharing his life and time with those who struggled. Tom remained sober until his very last day on earth.
Tom will be remembered for his staunch Irish heritage, quick humor, witty comments, storytelling, humble kind, and quiet nature. His devotion to family, with his grandchildren remembering his endless playing of games from play-doh to war to cribbage, kite flying, decorating cookies, epic Easter egg hunts, and most memorable, always having fresh donuts for all of his loved ones. Tom would be grateful for you all being here to share his life. "Put me in Coach "
