Thomas Brian Estes, 60, of Sprakers, NY passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday February 23, 2025. He was born on December 29, 1964, son of the late Robert A. Estes and Rosetta (Rose) Cook Estes, and was predeceased by his brother, Allen R. Estes. He is survived by his nephew Christian Weaver of Springfield, Virginia, his sister-in-law Barb Estes of Auburndale, Florida, and too many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews to list because they charge by the word.
Tom graduated from Fonda-Fultonville Central School and later earned his associate's degree in business administration from Herkimer County Community College in 1985. He started his career at John Hancock Mutual Life, transitioned to Syrstone Construction with his brother Allen for a few years, worked at Bartyzel's Inc. for 5 years, then settled in to his career with Frontier Communications in 2006, where he retired in 2024. Later in his life, he also became a devoted member of the Randall Community Church.
Tom was an AVID Yankees and Cowboys fan who never missed a televised game and held season tickets to Yankee stadium for several years. He was a hands-on uncle who was cheering you on at baseball and football games or live streaming the event when he couldn't attend. He became a passionate "cruiser", favoring the warm Caribbean climate, and wasn't afraid to hit the casino from time to time.
Tom was a talented storyteller, using time spent with family and friends as his inspiration. Each story began with his patented catchphrase, "you see, what happened was ", and always ended with a huge laugh. Tom just loved a good chat, and when he called you, it always started with "what's going on?" Oh, and you had better pick up the phone, or he would keep calling until you did.
Tom was a lifelong area resident and was loved by all who knew him. He had an infectious laugh and an inviting smile that very quickly turned strangers into friends everywhere he went. A devoted friend and uncle, Tom was always there to celebrate with his sense of humor and offer support and kindness whenever needed. He was a kind and generous soul who would freely give to others without ever thinking of himself. He will be dearly missed by everyone lucky enough to know him.
Family and friends are invited to a service celebrating Tom's life on Saturday, March 15th at 12:00 noon at the Randall Community Church on 4224 State Highway 5S, Fultonville, NY 12072. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that contributions be made in Tom's memory to the Randall Community Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Rose & Hughes Funeral Home, 200 Church St., Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Oh no, my mom just told me about Tom's passing. Ditto to what everyone else has said. You and your family were wonderful people. I especially enjoyed time with you and your mom at church. We had fun growing up in Randall together! You were so good about keeping in touch with everyone. With heartfelt condolences....

I will miss our weekly chats, Tom. Thank you for being a friend for over 50 years. Thank you for visiting my mom over the years. She has loved you since you were in her first Kindergaten class at FFCS. She so enjoyed your visits. Give her a hug from all of us when you see her. You were a friend to so many and will be greatly missed, but you deserve a good rest and a visit with your dad, mom, and Allen. Until we meet again, dear friend...
