Dr. Thomas M. Fake

Dr. Thomas Michael Fake was born on April 10, 1941 to Clarence and Olive (Hudson) Fake in Casper, Wyoming. He attended school there and graduated from Natrona County High School, with the class of 1959. Tom attended Yale for two years and finished his bachelor's degree at the University of Iowa. He then went on to the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, graduating in 1968.
Following his schooling, Dr. Thomas opened his practice in Denison, owning it for over 43 years. Dr. Tom was united in marriage to Idamae Brandenburg on October 13, 1978 at the First Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska. Following their marriage, Dr. Thomas was baptized and later confirmed at Our Savior Lutheran Church. He obtained his pilot license, and the couple was able to fly to the Bahamas for their honeymoon, as well as travel to many different places abroad and within the United States.
Dr. Tom was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison. He and Idamae volunteered their time as missionaries and traveled to the Philippines and Africa, where he provided dental services to the less fortunate. He loved all sorts of fishing, especially fly-fishing and bass fishing. In his younger years, he also enjoyed golfing and hunting. Dr. Tom was a gifted man who was able to complete any challenging puzzle put in front of him. One of his favorite pastimes was reading and he was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes Fan. Dr. Tom passed away on June 2, 2023 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 82 years, one month and 23 days.
Dr. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Simpson; and sister, Dianne Kidneigh. He is survived by his wife of over 44 years, Idamae Fake of Denison; children: Randi White of Paisley, Florida, Dani Fake of Denver, Colorado, Robert Carmichael of Casper, Wyoming, Stephen (Sheila) Brandenburg of Memphis, Tennessee, Diane (Keith) Winey of Dallas Center, Iowa, and Debra (Scott) Vosika of Omaha, Nebraska; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison. Interment will be held in Crawford Heights Memory Gardens. Memorials may be directed to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison or Gary Thies Mission Central.
