Thomas Harvey Feavel was born on April 20, 1944, to Ledgard Thomas and Josephine Johanna (Ebben) Feavel. He was the grandson of Thomas R. and Minnie (Rohde) Feavel and Jacob and Nellie (West) Ebben. With his lovely wife and sister at his side, Thomas died at home on February 4, 2023. Thomas had attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Appleton and Sacred Heart Seminary in Oneida, and graduated from St. Francis Xavier in Appleton in 1962. Thomas obtained an Accounting Degree from Appleton Business School (FVTC) graduating top of his class and served as their business school student president. Thomas took many technical school classes which included real estate, thus passing the Wisconsin real estate exam and held a real estate brokers license. Past employment included Appleton Mills; Presto Products of Appleton; Micro Design Division of Bell and Howell in Hartford, WI; and Kelly Professional Services in Oshkosh, WI. Thomas had married Margaret Ann Bekkers on Saturday, July 21, 1984, in Appleton, WI. Thomas is a past member of the National Association of Accountants, Appleton Taxpayers Association, and Serra International. His credit union volunteer service included Chairman of Presto Employees Credit Union, Vice Chairman of the Appleton Area Credit Union now known as Community First, and Director of Wisconsin Axle Credit Union, Oshkosh, now known as Verve a Credit Union. Thomas was also instrumental in bringing credit union membership and services to the employees of Micro Design in Hartford, WI. His service to St. Raphael's Community, Oshkosh, includes key member of the Parish Finance Council and Chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee. Service to the City of Oshkosh included serving on The Real Estate Variance Committee. Thomas has served on The St. Francis Xavier Foundation Board, Mount Tabor Center / SPIRITUS Development Team and Lourdes Academy, Oshkosh Development Committee. Thomas has been an avid supporter of Religious Vocations. Thomas and his wife Margaret created a Charitable Giving Fund and have contributed to many area non-profits and building projects which include The Jayne Bergstrom Fine Arts Educational Center, Heckrodt Wetland Reserve, Evergreen Chapel and Eden Meadows, Oshkosh, St. Francis Xavier, Appleton, Lourdes Academy, Oshkosh, and The Jesuit Retreat House, Oshkosh.
Thomas and Margaret's legacy includes many established endowment funds.
Thomas is survived by his wife Margaret Ann Bekkers, Margaret's step-children who are his and Joy Fauk's children: Kathleen Ann aka Katie, Jeffrey Thomas, and Steven Michael. Katie's husband is Dale Ripley and children Kaitlin and Trevor. Jeffrey's children are Hayley Mae and Kayla Jade. Thomas is further survived by his sister Rochelle Altenhofen (John) Wagner and his brother Douglas (Barbara) as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers Richard (1/29/2015) and Robert (7/13/ 2015) and his brother-in-law Gerald Altenhofen. Thomas is also survived by; six sisters-in-law, and two brothers-in-law and predeceased by Margaret's parents and two sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 9am-11am at St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton, WI with the funeral service to follow at 11am, officiated by Fr. Tom Long. Entombment will be held at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Freedom, WI.
