Thomas Joel Foster

Thomas Joel Foster, a beloved son, father, and grandfather, passed away at his home in Mauldin, South Carolina on October 1, 2023, at the age of 65. He was born on September 29, 1958, in Greenville County, South Carolina, only child of the late Thomas Leroy Foster and Betty (Davenport) Foster.
Joel, as he was affectionately known, grew up in the Mauldin community and graduated from Mauldin High School. He was a devoted member of Mauldin Church of Christ, serving faithfully over the years. Known for his warm smile, impressive necktie collection, and unyielding enthusiasm, Joel became an indispensable member of the church community, particularly in the realm of audio and video recording which he willingly undertook to enhance the worship experience for all.
Joel's dedication extended beyond his church community, as he served diligently as the Records Manager for the Campus Police Department at Greenville Technical College. With years of dedicated service, he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues, faculty, and students. His commitment to maintaining accurate records and ensuring the safety of the campus community will not be forgotten.
Outside of his professional life, Joel found solace and joy in music. A gifted musician, he lent his resonant tenor voice to the Mauldin City Singers and raised his voice in praise on Sundays at his church. His love for music knew no bounds, and he especially enjoyed classic and Southern Rock tunes.
But above all, Joel's greatest source of joy came from his family. He deeply loved his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas P. Foster and Dianna Foster of Mauldin, SC and his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca F. Craig and Mike Craig of Minot AFB, North Dakota; and three precious grandchildren, Delilah, Oliver, and Charlie. His legacy of kindness, love, and unwavering faith will forever be imprinted in their hearts.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 6, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast. The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Mauldin Church of Christ in Simpsonville. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens, Piedmont.
