Thomas "Tom" Gardner, 73, of Scottsburg, Indiana, peacefully passed away at his home on December 2, 2025. He was born on December 20, 1951, to the late Rev. Leon Gardner and Mabel Gardner. During his professional life, Tom proudly served 31 years at Cummins Engine in Columbus, Indiana, where he was known for his strong work ethic and leadership as a supervisor. Beyond his career, Tom found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a dedicated member of the United Methodist Church in Crothersville, Indiana, and cherished moments spent fishing, cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers, and passionately supporting his beloved Indiana University sports teams.
Tom is preceded in death by his father, Rev. Leon Gardner; his mother, Mabel Gardner; two brothers, Leon Gardner Jr. and Richard Lee Gardner; sister, Cynthia Lee Gardner; a son, Kevin W. Gardner. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of fifty years, Lou Gardner, as well as his daughters, Michelle Swink and Bernice Wilson, and his sister, Sharon Buckles; alomg with three grandchildren, Alex, Hannah(Tyler), and Bryton; and five great grandchildren. On December 6, 2025, family and friends will gather to celebrate Tom's life. A public viewing will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Following the service, Tom will be laid to rest at Collins Family Cemetery in Deputy, Indiana. Please share their memories and condolences at www.collinsfuneralhome.net.
