Thomas Joseph Gaseor, 70, of Pearland, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, in Athens, Greece. He had 'topped the Acropolis' in his words & enjoyed nearly two weeks of 'blissful adventure' with his love, Susan DiCioccio.
Born June 19, 1955 in Chicago, Tom received a BSME and an MSME from the University of Illinois. He met his future wife on campus and captivated her with his brilliance, singing, songwriting, artistic talents, enchanting smile, and dimples before starting his career as an engineer at Boeing in Seattle. From Seattle they relocated to Houston where he had a fulfilling career in oil and gas and aerospace. Most recently enthusiastically working on Artemis II with Barrios Technologies, he will be soaring with the astronauts this spring.
As a Chicagoan, Tom delighted in recounting his childhood, growing up in the cherished 10 square block Polish neighborhood on the near Northwest side of the city. His kindness of heart, humility and service for others began at a young age, serving as an altar boy at St. James Parrish, playing ball at Hanson Park and staying out until the street lamps turned on. Maturing into adulthood, he never lost the boyish charm of simple pleasures - the sunrise on calm water, the loyalty freely given of a dog, the crack of a baseball bat, and the excitement in the pursuit of mastering something new. He sought the simplicity of joy in the complexity of living.
A true Eagle Scout, he actively lived the scout oath to stay mentally awake and morally straight as a lifelong learner. His educational and career success can be attributed to his true passion and dedication to the mastery of learning for the sake of knowledge. He was driven to work in service of a greater good, lending his intellectual excellence to purposes beyond himself. He was equally as talented songwriting with his guitar as he was with a scientific theory.
His proudest & most joyful moments came from time spent with his beloved family. He quickly engaged with Susan's Peruvian culture and embraced all it offered. They traveled to interesting places and visited the countries of origin with the family. A visit to their home would be welcome with Tom's gracious hosting and cooking. He particularly cherished keeping the Polish traditions of Christmas eve dinner. His devotion to serving others was palpable in the way he relished in the opportunity to serve those he loved most, from coaching softball to caring for his in-laws in their later years. Tom was the love of Susan's life, the most considerate and loving husband who will be forever missed.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Dorothy Gaseor. Tom is survived by his wife, Susan and daughters, Monica and Laura (Nate), his brother, Randy (Pam) and their children, Meghan and David (Devina), and his sister, Julianne. Tom is also survived by aunts and many cousins. Big E and G Man will miss him.
Friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation from five to eight o'clock in the evening Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at the Bradshaw Carter Home, 1734 W. Alabama Street in Houston. Remembrances will be shared at seven o'clock. Guest are invited to celebrate Tom's memory by wearing something of his favorite color, blue. A memorial mass service will be held at half-past ten the following morning, Thursday, November 20, at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 2140 Westheimer Road in
Houston, Texas.
