Thomas Godfrey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. - East York on Jan. 30, 2026.
Thomas E. Godfrey, Sr., 84, born April 11,1941, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

Tom, or Uncle Tommy as he was often called, leaves behind three children: Kim Anderson and husband Tim; Tom Godfrey Jr. and wife Nancy; Denise Sleeger and husband Mearl; also his ex-wife Vickie Godfrey, who became good friends with him throughout the years; a bond that can never be broken.

Tom worked very hard all his life. He was a fireman at American Chain and Cable aka ACCO for 41 years, retiring at age of 67.

In his younger years he would play softball with his brothers, but his true passion was football and his obsession with Notre Dame. From traveling trips to South Bend with his son to see live games, to his many many collections of Notre Dame memorabilia and also clothing with Notre Dame Logos. It was all about Notre Dame!

Tom was also the life of any party. With his love for Elvis and 50's music, Tom always managed to be the center of attention during events or family gatherings. A memory his oldest daughter would share of a father-daughter dance to unchained melody by the Righteous Brothers, a song they both cherished together.

Preceded in death by his wife Carol, his parents Burnam and Virginia, his brothers Junior, Larry, and Reggie, and his only sister Shonna; granddaughter Abigail. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and even three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 5 at 11:00am at John W. Keffer Funeral Home 902 Mt. Rose Ave. Friends may call on Thursday from 10:00 am to time of service. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
