Thomas Fred “Tom” Hellner Jr., age 70, of Oxford, Nebraska passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024, at his home. He was born on February 10, 1953, at Oxford, Nebraska to Thomas Sr. & Barbara (Wolzen) Hellner.

Tom was raised in Oxford and attended school at Oxford High School and graduated with the class of 1971. He loved playing sports in high school and competing against other towns down the Republican River valley. He never missed a day of school. After high school, he moved to Denver, Colorado and worked for Ed-Con exploration data consultants in data navigation. They performed gravity and inertial readings that facilitated oil exploration which led him to circumnavigate the globe several times.

He would eventually move back to Oxford and start Tom Hellner Construction, which he ran for over 25 years. He married Damita Wright and to this union a son was born; Jacoby “Jake” Hellner. Tom loved to hunt, fish, running set lines, watch Husker sports, dancing, and partying. He had a great-sense of humor and was incredibly passionate.

He shared a business, “The Longbranch” with Karen Tegtman-Kramer. They shared the business but also shared love and laughter for many years.

He is survived by his son Jacoby “Jake” Hellner of Cheyenne, Wyoming, sisters Nancy Hellner of Arizona, and Susan (Otis) Brice of Texas and numerous cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of Life will be Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 7 PM at The Longbranch in Oxford, Nebraska which also would of been his birthday.
